Only in San Jose's (OSJ) mission is to EDUCATE, ENABLE, and EMPOWER the residents of San José in the co-creation of a more equitable, sustainable, and thriving city, today, tomorrow, and onward. We are a values based design and led organization. Currently, we've prioritized 6 values appropriate to the context and circumstances of the present moment that the Peoples of San José are collectively experiencing: Compassion, Democracy, Collaboration, Equity, Sustainability, and Joy. OSJ wants to revolutionize civic participation and engagement in San José. It shouldn’t be this hard, everyone should be able to meaningfully participate. Our first project, the Only in San José podcast is aimed at demystifying and democratizing the dense information around civic participation in local government, ground-zero of systemic change. OUT NOW: Season 1 | A Call for Heroes: San José Commissions San José has over 35 Commission, with 277 seats of opportunities! Yet 1/3 of seats are vacant year round! Season 1 shines a spotlight on what they are and how they can be used to create systemic change. COMMING 2021 Season 2 | Charting a new course for our City Constitution San José has created the City Charter Review Commission that will be composed of 11 SJ Residents. OSJ aims to democratize that process in multiple languages to create an at large community discourse of the values we want represented in our constitution.
