Overview

PHEAL (Planning for Health Equity, Advocacy, and Leadership) is a transdisciplinary collective of "just and fair communities" champions. Established in the middle of 2020, the PHEAL Initiative is a call to action to build the bridges needed to get us across and beyond the pandemic and into an era of heightened awareness and commitment to doing the hard work necessary to redefine our communities. As the COVID-19 era unfolds, we envision a strategic direction of transdisciplinary collaboration amongst the fields shaping the evolution of communities in which health equity and racial justice are intentionally embedded front and center throughout all policies, practices, and norms. We are committed to dismantling oppressive systems, values, practices, and reorganizing planning approaches towards creating and nurturing healthy, equitable, and prosperous communities for everyone, specifically historically overburdened communities by health inequities. Together with our partners, our interdisciplinary team is actively looking for answers to the most challenging issues; the ever-changing social environment faces today.
