OP ENHEIM

Overview

OP ENHEIM is a cultural institution with a mission to develop a vibrant network of cooperation between institutions in Wrocław, Berlin and other European countries. Here, in an old tenement house, a former Oppenheim Haus, in the middle of Wrocław heart, at Plac Solny 4, cultural meetings, workshops and concerts, including experimental music, are held. The doors to the OP ENHEIM were first opened in 2018, after a 5-year long renovation process. The foundation was established a few days after the opening, on the 19-20 of October. The initial exhibition was fruitful cooperation between Andy Rottenberg, a respected art curator and Mirosław Bałka, sculptor of worldwide fame. The gallery cooperated with over 65 artists in 2020 and hosted over 5000 visitors. Online numbers prove to us that artistic events are needed especially during the lockdown, we gathered over 16 000 attendees on our online happenings. As of 2020, OP ENHEIM started specialising in a programme called OP YOUNG which is the latest project being carried out of a need to support the local arts community in the era of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is also a symbolic opening of our institution to young, progressive artists, whose development we want to actively support. As part of the open call for artistic productions, we received 65 applications and we picked out 4 which stood out to us when it came to the issues addressed by the artists and medium chose. We also launched DIGITAL RESIDENCY with SENATSVERWALTUNG FUR KULTUR UND EUROPA to answer the artistic needs during the pandemic. The outcome was an internet platform available from the search engine and under the address http://www.digitalresidency.pl/. In four years, OP ENHEIM evolved into a known, intimate space where artists, curators and connoisseurs of art can cooperate and share their passion for the art world.
