Overview

Ontario's AMC is a provincial initiative kick-started in 2017 that connects manufacturers with the expertise and world-class assets of McMaster University, University of Waterloo and Western University. Our “no wrong door” approach breaks down barriers by providing access to the resources of all three universities regardless of location or contact method. As of 2019, there are more than 30 principal investigators and over 350 Highly Qualified Personnel (HQPs: research associates, post-docs, graduate students, etc) associated with AMC. To date, more than 45 HQPs have been hired by industry related to AMC projects. AMC helps manufacturers with understanding, assessing, de-risking and adopting advanced manufacturing technologies in automotive, defense, aviation/aerospace, health, general manufacturing and more. We work directly with small, medium and large industry partners to create new products, production methods and processes, and to generate highly-skilled jobs that will uphold Ontario as a leading manufacturing region. Since 2017, AMC has 300+ projects completed or in progress with over 200 manufacturing industry collaborators. Over half of these projects are with start-ups and SMEs. Consider us an extension of their R&D team. We work hand-in-hand to tackle research challenges, focus on industry needs and drive measurable growth while remaining open and flexible throughout the process. When you collaborate with an AMC-affiliated institution, you can expect: - A simple, industry-friendly process to support R&D needs. - A dedicated network of professional staff for projects on industry timelines. - IP ownership and complete confidentiality throughout the process. - Expertise in technology transfer, offering full support for prototyping, product and process development. - A commitment to innovation for job creation and measurable growth.
