Overview

Established in 2021, ONHN grows native vegetation in 10 cubic inch Styroblock trays and Tall 1 and Tall 2 Forestry pots. The containers are conical plant cells filled with a growing medium then plants are grown from seed, cuttings, or bareroot stock. The growing containers encourage dense, vertical root systems allowing for faster and healthier plant development. The vegetation consists of all Ohio native species that include sedges, rushes, wildflowers, shrubs generally found in riparian habitats, and small tree species generally found in 100 year flood plains. The emergent, non-woody vegetation is ideal for medium- to large-scale wetland restoration projects, sand bar plantings in stream restoration projects, and wet meadow habitat restoration. Smaller bioswale or local rain garden projects will also benefit from healthy, established vegetated plugs for water quality improvements as well as pollinator habitat. The woody vegetation is ideal for all forms of stream restoration, flood plain establishment, wetland restoration, and general habitat management on any project scale. ONHN grows native vegetation in 2 hoop style greenhouses as well as an outside nursery yard for larger stock in Avon, Ohio.
