Overview

IGNITE. INSPIRE. INFLUENCE. OGDEN CONTEMPORARY ARTS strives to be viewed as a credible and internationally respected art establishment; while empowering artists with the facilities, environment and experience to excel in their medium and enrich their lives. A community is most successful when its citizens are brought together to engage with one another for the benefit of social good. The power of ART has been directly linked to solving social issues; connecting cultural differences and engaging shared values. ART is recognized as one of the most vital parts of a community- enabling social interaction, innovation and economic growth. Artists have long struggled with finding affordable space and maintaining sustainability while developing their creative voice or vision. Cities with legacies of iconic and historic buildings often find these spaces vacant due to societal or economic change. By aligning our community’s physical assets to attract the Cultural Creative, we will spark transformational change and expand its cultural richness. Ogden First catalyzes community involvement, connections, and unity in a wide range of artistic and cultural activities by: Creating safe spaces for the community to meet, be with, and learn from one another through the expressions of ART. Using ART as a form of communication, breaking down social and cultural barriers. Fostering the expression and sharing of one’s valued traditions, history and culture. Serving as the Junction between Ogden and the international arts community, enabling artists to expand their knowledge, professional practice and reach. As a collaborative resource partner to the ART community, Ogden First offers resources to accomplish the vision which supports artists and the community to gather with one another, while preserving our architectural legacy, and allowing for an economic resurgence in the urban core of Ogden, Utah.
