Overview

The Mayor's Office of Environmental Remediation (OER) manages the New York City Voluntary Cleanup Program, the largest municipally-run land cleanup program in the U.S. The NYC VCP protects public health, spurs economic development, and promotes growth and vitality in communities across the city. In addition, OER ensures environmental compliance on rezoned land through the E-designation program and promotes the recycling and reuse of clean, native soil within the city. We also provide resources to community-based organizations to support their efforts to plan the future of their neighborhoods and support cleanup and redevelopment.
