Overview

Norhard AS, established in 2007, is a full-service provider for full profile directional drilling and lining of penstocks for hydropower plants. It enables environmentally friendly solutions through game changing drilling technology based on in-house development and production. Many hydropower plants with pressure shafts from Norhard and with a total production capacity of about 250 GWh of clean renewable energy are now in operation all over Norway. Norhard`s office and workshop are located in the small village Tonstad about 110 km south west of Stavanger. The Tonstad area is familiar with production and transmission of hydropower – Tonstad Hydropower Plant with an installed capacity of 1000 MW and several 400 kV overhead lines in the Norwegian main grid is terminated and connected to the HVDC connection between Germany and Norway in Tonstad. Drilling of Pressure Shafts for Hydro Power Plants has been the initial focus area. Technology and equipment is well adapted for other infrastructure solutions. Norhard technology will make new and efficient solutions possible when it comes to taking things underground. Some unique characteristics for the Norhard technology: Fully electric operated. Remotely controlled. Integrated systems for navigation and steering enabling drilling along predefined curves. None rotating drill string. Environmental friendly solutions and performance – no emissions and near-silent operation.
