NMBI Systems provides research consulting services in informatics, social network analysis, and visualization. The company was founded by Michael Bales, who received his PhD in Biomedical Informatics from Columbia University in 2009. In his dissertation research he developed and evaluated Sciologer, a search and visualization system designed to help researchers understand scientific communities.
