Overview

In 2004, a group of students came together to establish a creative space for the expression and celebration of Latin American and Caribbean culture through the performing arts. Night of Cultura is completely run by UCLA students and has since staged a theater production every Spring quarter. Through the performing arts, Night of Cultura creates a space for students to participate in sociopolitical advocacy and cathartic expression, aiming to educate audiences on issues pertinent to, and for the betterment of, the Latina/o community at UCLA and beyond. Night of Cultura stands as a performing arts student group that offers undergraduate and graduate students at UCLA a platform to express themselves through screenwriting, acting, dance, music, poetry, stand-up, and short film representative of U.S.-American, Latin American, and Caribbean narratives and experiences.
