Overview

Neptune Robotics is an independently run organization of Mentors that provides high school students and high school robotics clubs an opportunity to volunteer and mentor middle school students and clubs to compete in FIRST LEGO© and robotics competitions.Currently we are based out of Bowditch Middle School in San Mateo, California mentoring our first middle school club Bowditch Robotics. Neptune Robotics is a robotics outreach program for high school clubs started in 2017 by Zachary Abraham giving clubs an opportunity to mentor middle school students. We start robotics clubs in various middle schools allowing high school students or clubs with robotics interests to volunteer and mentor robotics students at middle schools. Comprised of over 50 students, Neptune Robotics started its program with Bowditch Robotics club and high school robotics club partner Vulcan Robotics. Neptune Robotics provides mentorship in prototyping, fabrication, coding, and business. Neptune Robotics is organized to encourage younger students to pursue opportunities in STEM, while also paving the way for future participation in FTC. By combining the fundamental principles of “Gracious Professionalism®” and Vulcan Robotics’ tradition of independent learning, Neptune strives to be a model for others in both the competitive and educational aspects of FLL. Our mission is to enable students of the next generation to discover and develop their innate talents in finding innovative and cutting-edge solutions to the problems of the real world. By creating a safe, friendly, and challenging environment that successfully incorporates student’s ideas and designs, we aim to empower those with a passion for engineering and design with the proper tools and education to succeed. We hope to enable more such middle school clubs by high school mentors Core Values: 1. Creation of a safe learning environment for all individuals, adapted to each student’s capabilities 2. Problem solving skills, and mutual assistance with other team members to work cooperatively 3. Honoring the spirit of friendly competition to display Gracious Professionalism® and Coopertition® 4. Celebration and acknowledgement of successes and failures, to help students develop as both engineers and individuals 5. Productive and positive communication between student mentors and team members to ensure adequate understanding of concepts in independent design Our clubs and camps focus on enhancing students’ skills by providing a hands-on experience with the LEGO MINDSTORMS robots and emphasizing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education. Participants will learn about the engineering design process as they build and program robots to complete a variety of tasks. They will be mentored by members by partnering clubs of Neptune Robotics from high schools. Email our Education and Outreach Coordinator @ roboticsneptune@gmail.com with any questions. High school students who have worked in FTC/FRC at their high schools volunteer to mentor and spread their knowledge through Neptune Robotics.
