Our vision, "Self Reliant Rural India”. Given my own experiences of growing up in a village and how I had to struggle to have a better life for me and my family as well as realising the talent and drive that exists in our rural populus, led me to founding 'NAVAMI' - National Ambassador for Villages and Aspiration for Mission India. NAVAMI exists as an organisation, set up to be a catalyst between rural areas on the Indian sub-continent and companies and co-operatives who are interested to invest in such locations. India is a country whereby over 60 percent of the India's population continues to live in rural areas and as such represents a concentration of India's strength. Secondly with the federal government encouraging complex make in india scheme's which are struggling to get off the ground, a major market lies in investment in cottage industries within the rural sector. Having spoken and worked extensively with a number of multinational firms and domestic co-ops, they are struggling to find the mechanism to reach the rural areas and invest. Therefore given my own background and my experiences on both sides of the coin, I felt my organisation can act as the necessary bridge for both parties to successfully integrate. The advice we give is both analytical as well as social, down to the routes and traditions of people in their respective homelands, identifying strengths and recommended types of cottage industries that can be incubated in a village setting. One of the immediate goals is to bring a halt to the humanitarian crisis that India has witnessed in the past few months; so that the foundation of our country (migrant labour of India) our brothers, sisters and children should never go through the pain and suffering of travelling miles for bread, butter, jobs and a better life leaving their rural homes far behind.
