Overview

National Equipment is a wholesale distributor and manufacturer representative for foodservice equipment from around the world. We are a 4th generation family owned business. Our roots began in 1901 with O. Stenzel Manufacturing which was a metal spinning and tinning company. They made food wells for the foodservice industry. Edward Stenzel eventually took the company his father Otto. Edward had a major stroke and could no longer run the company so in 1961, Bud & Barbara Peterson took the company over and created Peterson's Service, a service agency to work on foodservice equipment. Bud's background came from the soda and beer industry. Multiplex was first manufacture to approach them to work on their equipment. As their children became adults, 5 joined the company, Andy, Chris, Jodie, Don and Margaret. Andy Peterson took over the company from his parents as Bud's health started to fail in about 1980. In about 1983, Manitowoc Ice approached Andy to be a distributor for the state of Utah. At that time the company was located in Bud's father's home in Sugarhouse. In 1987, National Equipment was created to handle the sales side of the company. In 2000, Andy sold Peterson's Commercial Parts and Service. He had a 5 year non compete from the sale so after 5 years he opened Authorized Service Group in order to service specialty equipment lines for National Equipment. Today the family members, Andy, Jodie, Don and Margaret are still an integral part of both companies.
