Overview

The National Depository of Ukraine was established according to the Law of Ukraine “On the National Depository System and Peculiarities of Securities Electronic Trading in Ukraine” to ensure the functioning of the common depository accounting system. On December 18, 1998 the Securities and Stock Market State Commission and the National Bank of Ukraine signed the Agreement on Establishing the National Depository of Ukraine. The state registration took place on May 17, 1999. NDU’s share capital makes up UAH 103 000 000. The State owns 86 % of shares, from them, by the Securities and Stock Market State Commission. Besides, 14 % shares of NDU belong more than 20 to stock market participants of Ukraine. On September 19, 2006 the National Depository of Ukraine (the NDU) was granted a license for realization of depository activity as a securities depository for a term of 10 years by the Securities and Stock Market State Commission. (series AB #189650) Under this license the NDU starts the operational activity, namely safekeeping and servicing of securities circulation on securities accounts and issuer’s operations as to the securities issued. On April 21, 2008, the State Securities and Stock Market Commission of Ukraine granted to the National Depository of Ukraine a ten-year-valid license to carry out clearing and settlement activity.
