Overview

A BRIEF HISTORY Sportful’s roots can be traced back to 1946, when Olindo and Irma Cremonese created a spinning mill for wool yarn and founded Manifattura Valcismon S.p.A. Over the years, the company’s focus shifted toward the production of quality underwear, initially for the Italian market and later also to be sold in the United States. The turning point, and the creation of the Sportful brand, occurred in 1972, when Dr. Giordano Cremonese took over the management of the company from his parents. Sportful immediately began to attract attention in the sportswear market with its clothing for cross-country skiing, and in 1985 the company’s decision to begin producing and marketing cycling apparel further raised the profile of the Sportful brand. In 2003, the steady growth of the company was enhanced by the acquisition of the prestigious Castelli brand of cycling clothing. Consolidation in both the cycling and ski markets then presented the opportunity for diversification, and in 2007 the company created a new brand of outdoor apparel, Karpos.
