Overview

Musasa is a non-governmental organisation that was set up in 1988 to deal with issues of violence against women and girls. It provides relief to survivors of Gender Based Violence (GBV). Musasa operates from four (4) regional offices, namely: Harare, Bulawayo, Gweru and Masvingo. Since 2013 Musasa started implementing the One Stop Centre. Thereafter, the organisation has strengthened the Bulawayo and Gweru offices and turned them into one stop centres which provided a package of services under one roof. Further, Musasa has established 13 shelters in different areas across Zimbabwe. This has improved service delivery and increased our physical presence in different parts of the country. Currently Musasa shelters are located in Mazowe, Gutu, Chikomba, Bubi, Marange, Mwenezi, Bulawayo, Gweru, Buhera, Gokwe, Harare, Bikita, Critically, this has coalesced all the community based activities and interventions around these shelters for maximum impact. The service centres are developed at a local level in communities and this has gone a long way in making the organisation visible and it has also made expansion of various programmes easier. The organisation now has physical presence in all 10 provinces Musasa places the provision of Direct Services as a priority out of realisation of the critical role played by the different services offered by the organisation in addressing the needs of survivors of GBV. Direct Services is apriority for the organisation and under this programme Musasa provides, counseling.. legal advice. Temporary safe shelter services, emergency medical assistance, economic empowerment, toll free lines support ; Advocacy. These services address the immediate needs of women and girls.
