Mothers' Milk Bank of the Western Great Lakes

Hospitals and Health Care

Overview

Mothers' Milk Bank of the Western Great Lakes saves tiny lives by collecting, pasteurizing, and dispensing donor human milk to premature babies and pediatric patients. As a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit member of the Human Milk Banking Association of North America, we are proud to serve over 80 hospitals and hundreds of families throughout Wisconsin and Illinois. When a baby is born, so is a mother. But sometimes, it doesn’t go the way everyone expects it to. More often than you might realize moms give birth early, have complications, or lose their baby in childbirth or shortly after. Those women aren’t just moms...they’re, well, heroes. But even the best superheroes need a sidekick. That’s why we’re here. The Mother’s Milk Bank of the Western Great Lakes was created to harness the power of donor human milk to heal and support those who need it most. We exist to serve premature and critically-ill babies, chronically-ill middle- and low-income children, and the moms who make our work possible. We deploy top-of-the-line health screenings and technology to ensure the milk that reaches our tiny babies and critically-ill kids delivers the best nutrition possible. We accept donations from moms at any stage of their breastfeeding journeys, including those who have lost the baby they so wanted. Our goal? Not to leap tall buildings or fly through the air – but perhaps even more impressive, to supply every family in Illinois and Wisconsin who needs it with this life-saving milk.
