Overview

95% of Filipino farmers face extreme difficulty selling their foods after harvest. Farmers in the Philippines typically only have online platforms like Facebook groups, Instagram direct messaging and Viber communities to sell their produce. This is incredibly inefficient and these platforms are not meant for farmers to sell on. Instead, these marketplaces are meant to sell things like home appliances, hand-me-down textbooks or mason jars and other miscellaneous items. Farmers even try to sell on platforms like Lazada or Shopee - however; these marketplaces are filled with resellers, grocery stores and middlemen. It’s extremely frustrating for farmers as these resellers typically pose as organic farm-produced storefronts. On the consumer-side, it’s virtually impossible for buyers to distinguish whether they’re buying from a reseller or a farmer. There’s a growing demand to know where our food comes from and how it’s been grown. MooMart solves this issue—we are a full end-to-end online marketplace in the Philippines that helps farmers sell direct-to-consumer. Farmers will now be able to sell directly to households, resellers, business owners and other institutions. And for buyers, they will now be able to find farms for high-quality and the freshest produce. By buying direct from the farm, we provide buyers with the transparency they need to make a confident purchase that ultimately helps thousands of farmers here in the Philippines. To date, MooMart has partnered with six major farms, pre-registered over 200+ farms in the province and raised 8.1M PHP in pre-seed funding for our launch in December 2022.
