Overview

The Montego Bay Marine Park Trust is a non-profit, Environmental Non-Governmental Agency (ENGO) and registered Jamaican Charity. The Trust was formed in 1992 to protect the coastal ecosystem of Jamaica's tourism capital - Montego Bay, and is tasked with managing the Montego Bay Marine Park (a 15 square kilometer Marine Protected Area) and two Special Fisheries Conservation Areas (fish sanctuaries). Our Vision is to establish the Montego Bay Marine Park as an exemplary model of sustainable healthy marine ecosystems, that is supported by a community that receives continuing economic rewards from it. Our Mission is to protect, conserve and restore the Montego Bay Marine Park’s natural resources for the maximum sustainable benefit of the community, the nation, and all mankind. Our Strategy is to promote the involvement of the wider Montego Bay community (residents, government, business, tourism industry) in taking both ownership of, and responsibility for the Park, to mobilize local support for programs that help attain our vision.
