Overview

A group home for children "in need of supervision" or delinquent was created in Frederick MD under an LEAA grant. The home, called "Monocacy House" served 8 adjudicated boys. The boys resided in the home with counselors and staff who provided them counseling, guidance and all the comforts of a home provided they were able to accomplish at least 50% of the improved behavior goals under an "achievement place" program. The home functioned successfully from 1975 until 1980 when it was absorbed into Frederick County Juvenile services.
