Overview

MOD is a biotech organisation run by students from the University of Auckland. In the lab, we are currently developing plants with improved fertiliser uptake and metabolism. This has the potential to reduce pollution from our agriculture industry, reduce fertiliser costs for farmers and growers, and increase pasture growth rates/yields. We are on track to have a proof of concept plant by the end of 2018, and have detailed plans to improve the plant further during 2019. We have built our business case and we are entering our project in the international biotechnology competition, iGEM. MOD is also a multi-disciplinary advocate. We provide science students with a mix of real lab and commercial experience. When we're not in the lab, we're involved with community engagement, presentations and biotech advocacy initiatives.
