Overview

Our primary mission is to provide a well trained, fully equipped ground and mounted Search and Rescue unit, capable of serving the public as a qualified resource that assists in locating lost, abducted, or missing persons in the State of Maine. Maine Mounted Search and Rescue is Maine's only mounted search and rescue unit. In teams of 2-3 horse/rider pairs, we look for people who are lost. MMSAR is on call to the Maine Warden Service, and is a member of the Maine Association for Search And Rescue (MASAR). We generally (but not always) meet on the second Saturday of most months, generally (but not always) at the Litchfield Fire Station.
