We believe it's imperative for communities of color to have health equity, and for there to be equitable social impact within the public health infrastructure which we are not seeing to the degree in which we should. In an effort to assist, in 2018 Alisa Howard started Minority Health Consultants to be that conduit. “Long gone are the days of traditional Public Health initiatives. The pandemic proved that we have been behind the ball with innovative and creative ways to engage, educate, and work with Minority & BIPOC communities.” Alisa Howard MHC hires and contracts with trained Public Health professionals, Health Educators, Community Health Workers, and Human Service professionals. As well as we mentor the next generation of practitioners through internships or hire college-level seniors. Equity, equality and social justice is important to MHC’s core values. Therefore, we assist all stakeholders who have a vested interest in bridging these health gaps not only through a social determinants of health lens but also using 8 Dimensions of Wellness lens as a core model to assist marginalized, low-income and disproportionately affected populations to achieve better health related outcomes, and bring overall human wellness to these communities.
