Overview
We want an Aotearoa New Zealand where everyone is paid fairly for their work; where pay discrimination based on ethnicity, gender or ability no longer exists. On the 49th anniversary of the Equal Pay Act, we have begun the countdown to the launch of our Public Pay Gap Registry. In 49 years, the Equal Pay Act has not closed our pay gaps. When some of us are paid less for doing the same job as others, that’s an issue of fairness. Unfair pay persists across genders, for Māori, for Pacific peoples, disability communities and other ethnicities in Aotearoa. The registry aims to encourage all organisations to do the right thing by signing on and committing to pay gap reporting. Employers, we’re asking you to lead by signing up to the registry and committing to pay gap reporting in your workplace.
