Overview
Mil Milagros is dedicated to supporting the Indigenous Maya in rural Guatemala as they build stronger, healthier communities through innovative programs in leadership, education, health, and early childhood development. We believe that when children and families in rural Guatemala have access to parenting and early childhood support, clean water, quality education, nutritious food, when they can make informed decisions about their health and rely on consistent, dedicated local leaders—whole communities can thrive. The populations we serve are often burdened by the multidimensional causes and effects of extreme poverty: historical discrimination and structural inequality, lack of access to basic social services and quality education, malnutrition and illness. While there is tremendous need in our communities, there is also a reservoir of untapped potential. We believe that when women are given the resources, training, and opportunity to create change, they can lead their communities toward a brighter future. Our mission is to identify, train, and provide opportunities for Indigenous women to create lasting change through programs that improve quality of life in the communities where they live. We envision a world where all Indigenous Maya have the opportunity to become the transformative leaders their communities need to thrive.
