The Miami Language Institute was created in Miami in 2020 by professor and researcher Daniel F. Rivera, Ph. D. He was born and raised in Madrid, Spain, and for over ten years has been teaching and doing research in various institutions in Madrid, London, the United States such as Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM), Universidad Complutense, School of Orient, And African Studies London (SOAS), Kaslik University of Beirut, Notre Dame University of Beirut (NDU), Institute Cervantes (CI), Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (SCIC), Florida International University and the University of Miami among others. The institute is located in Miami, Florida, but most of its activities and courses are online. The MLI uses the latest technologies to create a virtual environment that encourages and stimulates language learning. Classes, seminars, and events are taught online on Zoom.
