Overview

MDRU is an industry-funded research group established at The University of British Columbia to provide mineral exploration research, education, and professional training to the industry. We have expertise in gold deposits, porphyry copper systems, regional metallogeny, and the development of exploration tools, technologies and strategies. We have research initiatives in the fields of geometallurgy, exploration geochemistry, tailings and CO2 mineralization. We are global, with projects around the world and a diversity of industry partners and collaborators. We accomplish research and training objectives with a team of experienced researchers, graduate students and contributing UBC faculty members. MDRU is the home of the Exploration Geochemistry Initiative (EGI), and collaborates broadly across UBC including with BRIMM (Bradshaw Research Institute in Minerals and Mining), ICaRN (International Caving Research Network) and the UBC Geophysical Inversion Facility (GIF).
