The Office of the Maricopa County School Superintendent is led by elected Superintendent Steve Watson and is statutorily responsible to provide services in several key areas: - Supporting school governing board, bond and override elections - Appointing members to governing board vacancies - Supporting districts with school finance - Maintaining homeschool and private school records In his role as Superintendent, Mr. Watson leverages the office to achieve three key objectives: 1) To strengthen teacher voice, 2) To increase respect for the education profession, and 3) To create resources that expand the capacity of teachers, administrators, and support staff. Additionally, Superintendent Watson oversees the Maricopa County accommodation district, which includes Hope Career and College Readiness Academy and educational services at Maricopa County detention facilities.
