Massey at Wellington Students' Association

Non-profit Organization Management

Overview

Massey at Wellington Students' Association (aka MAWSA) is an organisation dedicated to representing, advocating and providing services to the present and future students of Massey Wellington. We represent Massey Wellington students on a number of boards and councils on campus, and nationally. MAWSA was born in 1999 when Massey University merged with Wellington Polytechnic. Prior the merge we were known as WePSA (Wellington Polytechnic Students Association). We are largely funded by student levy and governed by an elected student executive including the Student President and Vice President. Through advocacy and representation, we seek to improve the quality of studying at Massey Wellington. Our services include orientation, advocacy, clubs, student diaries, wall planners and more. We are also here to advocate for students. Our advocate handles a wide variety of cases, including hardship cases, academic problems such as problems with tutors, papers or courses, as well budgetary advice and even personal advocacy issues.
