MacDowell Fellows have won 101 Pulitzer Prizes, almost a thousand Guggenheims, 122 Rome Prizes, 34 MacArthur Fellowships, nine Academy Awards, 31 Tonys, Grammys, and more. Recipients of MacDowell residencies have included Ayad Akhtar, James Baldwin, Michael Chabon, Ta-Nehisi Coates, Louise Erdrich, Osvaldo Golijov, Cathy Park Hong, Glenn Ligon, Dee Rees, Vijay Seshadri, Ann Patchett, Colson Whitehead, and Julia Wolfe. Best-selling author and visual artist Nell Painter is the chairman of MacDowell’s Board of Directors.
