Overview

Established in 1972 London Friend is the UK’s oldest Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans charity. We are here to support the health and mental wellbeing of the LGBT community in and around London. We offer counselling and support around issues such as same-sex relationships, sexual and gender identity and promoting personal growth and self-confidence. We're also home to Antidote - the UK's oldest LGBT drug and alcohol service. Our social groups provide a safe space to meet and socialise as an alternative to the bar and club scene. Our services are delivered by trained Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans volunteers. The services we currently provide include: • Counselling • Antidote Drug & Alcohol Support • Social & Support Groups • Volunteering Opportunities • Resources and Training for Professionals London Friend has been awarded the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service in 2016. It is the highest award given to UK volunteer groups, being equivalent to the MBE. The award issued by the Queen of England recognises the extraordinary work volunteers continue to put into the charity. We have also received the GSK Impact Award in 2016. The GSK IMPACT Awards provide funding and training and development for charities doing excellent work to improve people's health. They are funded by GSK and managed in partnership with The King's Fund. London Friend has been awarded the Nation Diversity Award in 2014. The National Diversity Awards celebrates the excellent achievements of grass-root communities that tackle the issues in today’s society, giving them recognition for their dedication and hard work.
