Overview

Liang Gallery was founded in 1993 located in Neihu Technology Park in Taipei and based in a three-story building of 2000 square meters, Liang Gallery organizes exhibitions of different themes every month. Since its founding, the primary aim of the gallery has been to promote academic research and exhibitions of Taiwanese art. Gradually, international exhibition exchange has also become one of the main objectives of the gallery. Liang Gallery is committed to developing international collaboration and exchange of art. For many years, it has been selected for inclusion in international art fairs and biennales to promote Taiwanese art. A significant number of artworks by the gallery’s represented artists have been included in the collection of the main art museums and private collectors. Besides a great focus on Taiwanese art, Liang Gallery is also engaged in the exploration of the cultural characteristics of Taiwan while looking through the lens of the Asian art history in hope for Taiwanese contemporary art to receive global attention. The gallery promotes Taiwanese artists of the early 20th century, the most representative modern artists, post-war abstract ink-wash artists, and contemporary artists, thus focusing on the significance of the era of art and the social aspects of visual art. Exhibitions held at the gallery feature artworks by different generations of artists. As a Taiwan’s history ambassador, Liang Gallery works with the foundations and families of pioneering painters in Taiwan, such as Chen Cheng-po, Liao Chi-Chun, Yang San-Lang, Chen Chih-Chi, Li Mei-Shu, Chen Te-Wang, Chin Jun-Tso, Pu Tien-Sheng, Chen Hsia-Yu, and Yang Yu-Yu to organize large-scale retrospective exhibitions and scholarly discussion forums, hence hoping for private art institutions to establish a strong position in the history of Taiwanese art. As an exhibition space, it aims to integrate post-war abstract art and contemporary art into the system of art history.
