Studio Le Nid was born on the slopes of Etna in the 1960s as a craft workshop, created by the master Barbaro Messina for the processing of handcrafted majolica tiles. Today it is a company that exports majolica all over the world without ever forgetting the cornerstone of its origins: the desire to privilege the hand-made approach that brings its creations closer to art design and the search for beauty in every detail. The tiles and floors of Studio Le Nid are the result of skilled and passionate hands that know how to transform into material the suggestions of a beautiful land in which the black of Etna lava is accompanied by the fragrant green of citrus groves. The contrasts of Sicily have always inspired Studio Le Nid which, combining tradition and innovation, manages to create pieces of a contemporary classicism. The majolica tiles are made on Etna lava stone and on manual Etna terracotta and these materials of the ancient Sicilian ceramic tradition are transformed into unique objects, examples of a culture and a lifestyle. The Maestro and "Le Nid" design and make tiles, floors and furnishing accessories together with internationally renowned architects and designers (just remember the collaboration with Ettore Sottsass), always looking for new technical and stylistic solutions, able to satisfy the desire for elegance and good taste of a clientele that knows how to appreciate the beauty, the high production quality and the originality of the unique piece made by hand. Since 2001 Studio Le Nid is directed by Vincenzo Messina and Filippo Messina, sons of the master Barbaro Messina, who carry out the mission of the company, renewing its image and making it an example of Made in Sicily to export all over the world.
