Left Write Hook is a peer led recovery and empowerment program that combines expressive writing and boxing to help adult survivors of child sexual abuse and trauma reclaim their bodies and rewrite their narratives. Left Write Hook is a registered charity with DGR status. Alongside the charity, sits a powerful documentary film that spurred out of a research project within the University of Melbourne. The documentary follows eight survivors as they embark on the program of Left Write Hook. What unfolds is a collective journey of resistance, empowerment and re-creation as the survivors move from the privacy of the boxing gym into the public sphere. The personal becomes the political as the survivors begin to reauthor their lives.
