Leadership Toledo

Overview

Leadership Toledo allows participants to realize what their leadership roles and responsibilities are and how to maximize their impact in their workplaces, schools and community. Leadership Toledo has four programs. The main adult program 'Leadership Toledo' and the main youth program 'Youth Leadership Toledo' focuses on skill development and educational opportunities for the 50+ participants in each program. The nine month programs introduce participants to the needs of the community and inspires individuals to take an active role in making an impact. Juniors and Seniors who graduate from the Youth Leadership Toledo program may chose to stay active in the Youth Philanthropy program called YIPEE. Sponsored by the Toledo Community Foundation and facilitated by the staff of Leadership Toledo, students meet September to May identifying key problems facing youth, raise money, review grant applications, and allocate money to deserving non-profits. The Students In Action program is a component of the national Jefferson Awards organization and facilitated locally by Leadership Toledo. Students leaders develop committees in each high school to identify their peers who have made a significant impact in the community through service. Awardees are chosen, recognized throughout the school community and shown as examples for other students to follow. Through telling the stories of these students, Leadership Toledo is set to double volunteerism in teenagers.
