Land Rights Defeneders Inc is a humanity centered non-profit Organization registered under the laws of State of Ohio with the sole aim of supporting victims of land rights abuse. Our priority is to fight for the land rights of indigenous or native groups, tribes or clans and families who have their property particularly lands being abused and taken away from them illegally. Land rights are a key human rights issue. Land rights constitute the basis for access to food, housing and development, and without access to land many people find themselves in a situation of great economical insecurity.In many countries, access and rights over lands are often stratified and based on hierarchical and segregated systems where the poorest and less educated do not hold security of land tenure. This is where Land Rights Defenders are trying to bridge the gap so the rights to persons, groups, families or any ethnic origins are not exploited and undermined when it comes to issues regarding their lands. For many people, land is a source of livelihood, and is central to economic rights. Land is also often linked to peoples’ identities, and so is tied to social and cultural rights. In championing this course, we hope to achieve the following: * Prevent indigenous groups or tribes from being exploited of their lands. * Poverty reduction and development. * Peace-building. * Humanitarian assistance. * Disaster prevention and recovery. * Urban and rural planning.
