Overview
At La Transformerie, it’s quite simple. We believe that it's possible to end food waste. Our non-for-profit organization actively participates in raising awareness about food waste and it's reduction in Montreal by offering a positive and efficient solution, based on the principles of circular economy, to food stores in Rosemont-La-Petite-Patrie while also reducing local poverty and food insecurity. Through the collect of unsold fresh products, we transform and can a portion of the collected fruits and vegetables into delicious sweet and salty spreads that are then sold back to participating food stores, while redistributing the other portion to local organisms acting in food security. Canning represents for us a tool that will allow us to go beyond. At La Transformerie, we want to transform and valorize unsold products, but more importantly, we want to change habits, the humans and the system itself.
