Kerbo Charge

Overview

Do you have no off-street parking, but want to charge your electric car at home without trailing a cable across the pavement? We make it possible. The problem with public charging points is that they are around 5 x more expensive than domestic charging tariffs, as highlighted in this Sunday Times article: https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/pricey-electric-chargers-drain-drivers-wallets-x860gm67q For a typical car user, charging only once per week, this works out at around £800 additional annual cost if you have to use a public charger per year, compared to charging at home. Here are current prices compared (prices correct 14 April 2022): - London off-peak (midnight to 6am) domestic tariff - 8p KWH - BP Pulse on-demand charging - 38p KWH For a 77KWH car, charging domestically therefore costs £6.16 vs. £29.26. An additional problem is that many residents, particularly women, do not want to walk across several streets at night to collect their car from a charging point over fear for their safety. We’ve create a new product called Kerbo Charge that allows residents to safely charge at home and share their supply with neighbours. It consists of: - A 7KW wall mounted charger - A patentable polycarbonate channel with hytrel hinged self-closing lid - iOS/Android app to allow timed charging, and to allow neighbours to use the supply The channel is installed between the front of a resident’s property and the kerb, and self closes when released, and sits completely flush with the pavement. The app allows the user to earn revenue when neighbours are using their supply.
