Overview

I possess extensive teaching and leadership experience in the Australian independent schooling sector coupled with prior involvement in transnational education through establishing an international school in China. My career in education began at Lighthouse Christian College in Keysborough, Melbourne’s southeast, where I was the Assistant to the Head of Primary School while completing my Arts and Education double degree at Monash University. After completing my undergraduate degree, I joined Haileybury as a teacher at the Brighton and Keysborough Campuses in Melbourne while continuing with my Master’s degree in Educational Management at the University of Melbourne. At Haileybury, I developed my niche in Primary Mathematics, which opened up opportunities in coaching and mentoring other teachers in best practice in the teaching of Mathematics in the primary years. At one stage, I was seconded by Haileybury to its newly opened offshore venture, Haileybury International School, situated near Beijing in China where I was a member of the foundation team and the youngest member on the middle management team, serving as the Coordinator of English Literacy (Primary). I was most recently the Head of Primary School Mathematics and the youngest member to sit on the Academic Directorate at St Leonard’s College in Melbourne’s Brighton East. At one point, I was also the Acting Years 5 and 6 Administration Coordinator. My passion in using my knowledge, experience, and achievements in the Australian education sector to help guide budding teachers get their best foot forward into schools and early career teachers kickstart their teaching careers led to the creation of Julian Jom Consulting.
