Overview
EAU DE COLOGNE? This is IT! The Italian perfume maker Jean Marie Farina (1685-1766) settled down in Cologne over 300 years ago and created the first modern perfume which he named „Eau de Cologne“ to honour the town. This was the very first COLOGNE! This is the fragrance which travelled the world and made Cologne famous! It inspired a great deal of poets which is understandable on reading Farina’s description: “My fragrance is reminiscent of a spring morning after the rain: of oranges, lemons, bergamot and blossoms... ”. In other words, a sheer symphony of Italian scents! In order to immortalise both the perfume and its creator, Cologne had a statue of John Maria Farina made and mounted it on the town hall. As tradition has it, the company is still family run. It is now the 8th generation of Farina still producing the traditional and genuine EAU DE COLOGNE.
