Irvin Kew - Architecture Inc., is a professional architectural corporation headed by Irvin H. Kew the President. The firm was founded in Victoria, B.C. in 1981 as Irvin Kew Architects and the present practice established since 1990. To date Irvin Kew Architects Inc., exists as a general practice with experience in a variety of building types. The firm has successfully designed and completed both large and small projects for all levels of government as well as institutions, commercial and residential clients. The practice has won awards and honours in 1993 - Industrial Commercial and Investment Division, Victoria Real Estate Board for the facade redesign of Custom House, Victoria, B.C. and in 1986 for the Royal Theatre Competition Expansion from the City of Victoria. The practice is licensed to practice architecture in British Columbia, United Kingdom, England and previously in Alberta, Canada from 1995-1996. The President Irvin Kew is registered with the following associations: The Architectural Institute of B.C. The Royal Institute of Canada The Royal Institute of British Architects The Architects Registration Council of United Kingdom. Typical projects undertaken are as follows: Municipal Project: - North Saanich Fire Hall complex, consisting of a new 2-Bay Appliance Hall for 2 new Fire Pumpers; a new 4- Storey Training Tower. Followed by renovation and seismic stabilization of the existing building for Administration expansion. Construction value at $1,657,081.00; completion of project complex on budget and time in year 2o13. Defence Construction Canada: - FMF CAPE BRETON SHOP CONSOLIDATION (Navy) to resolve budget overrun; commissioned to conduct a Root cause Analysis to assist Treasure Board funding. Final report in year 2007, identified the root cause and included a new budget analysis for resolution for a new budget of $185,098,000.00 to complete and advance the project by year 2014. Private Client Projects: The Practice, under the leadership of the principal Irvin Kew has achieved a variety of Design, Build, Finance Operate and Maintenance private projects for private clients.
