Overview

InPhyT is a research group based at the Department of Physics of the University of Turin specialising in the applied mathematical and computational modelling of complex systems. We strongly believe in interdisciplinary approaches to tackling interesting challenges and pressing problems both in academic and industrial R&D. We designed infectious disease epidemiological data management pipelines in collaboration with regional and national public health institutions in Italy and we are active maintainers and contributors of software packages and organisations within the Julia Programming Language ecosystem with a focus on the development of dynamical modelling frameworks. Our technical skills include: • Computer programming in C++, Java, JavaScript, R, Python and Julia; • Collection, wrangling and analysis of digital social network data via APIs (e.g. Facebook and Twitter); • Privacy-preserving management of big and institutional databases; • Privacy-preserving analysis of big and institutional databases; • Development of computational frameworks for model building, identification, simulation, calibration and validation; • Machine learning; • Bayesian workflow; • Domain-specific knowledge in computational neuroscience; • Domain-specific knowledge in computational social science; • Domain-specific knowledge in computational epidemiology; • Research-relevant social media management; • Collaborative development of open source software; • Building and management of relatively large open source initiatives/organisations.
