Overview

Inter Beaujolais is the organisation that represents all the appellations (AOC) of Beaujolais. Created in 1959 and recognised by the French State, it unites all operators in the Beaujolais vineyard and is on a mission to: - Promote Beaujolais wines on specific markets by means of collective actions, - Research and experiment on Beaujolais winegrowing in a changing environment, - Conduct and showcase economic studies, - Maintain legal protection of Beaujolais appellations. The 12 Beaujolais appellations, including 10 crus: Beaujolais (rouge, rosé, blanc, primeur) - Beaujolais Villages (rouge, rosé, blanc, primeur) - Brouilly - Côte de Brouilly - Régnié - Morgon - Chiroubles - Fleurie - Moulin-à-Vent - Chénas - Juliénas - Saint-Amour - Vineyard surface area: 13 500 hectares on 96 villages - Vine density: 5000 to 10 000 feet/hectare - Average annual production: 600 000 hectolitres - Grape variety: Gamay noir à jus blanc (96%) and Chardonnay (4%) - Number of structures : 2000 estates, 9 wine cooperatives and 200 operators with a wine merchant activity - Average estate surface area : 8 hectares - Principal export countries : United States, United Kingdom, Japan, Canada, Belgium, Netherlands
