The Integrated Photonics Laboratory at the Shahid Beheshti University (SBU), managed by Dr. Gholam-Mohammad Parsanasab, conducts pioneering research in integrated photonic technologies for a diverse set of applications including low threshold on-chip single mode lasers, optical quantum interconnects for data center networks and high-performance quantum computers, and light-matter interaction between in waveguides and resonant cavities. Our mission is to develop novel materials, devices, and photonic integrated circuits (PICs) to enable systems that are beneficial to society. Integrated photonics greatly reduces the size, weight, and power, while improving the performance and reliability of photonic systems. Our group has developed expertise in a range of technology platforms including design, fabrication, and characterization of photonic crystal, Bragg grating, bottle, sphere, disk, ring, and nano-plasmonic cavity lasers. For each application or project, we apply the most suitable technology or merge more than one with hybrid and heterogeneous integration techniques.
