Inspire is a non-profit, social-awareness and development organization founded by the Mechanical Engineering students of Government Engineering College, Barton Hill, that works to ensure the education and holistic development of children residing in shelter homes across Kerala. Inspire presently reaches out to almost one thousand children residing in over ten shelter homes across Trivandrum and Kottayam. The volunteers spend between 2 and 4 hours a week with the children, mentoring, interacting, and generally spending time with the children, so that they receive the support, care and guidance they need during childhood. We follow a two-pronged approach to ensure that the children are well-equipped to lead an independent life free from exploitation, once they leave the shelter home: - • Empower the children to fulfill their potential and ensure that they receive equitable opportunities. • Mobilize the society to take action for community development and ensure their participation in the same. OUR GOALS • Mobilize the children to realize their potential and work toward achieving their dreams. • Strive for all-round development of the students by laying equal emphasis on co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. • Ensure that the students have access to the necessary financial instruments and have the ability to earn and save. • Empower the students to fight any exploitative element that they may face as they begin an independent life. OUR ACTIVITIES • Yearlong sessions and activities aimed at building the students’ knowledge level and scientific acumen. • Regular sessions involving extra-curricular activities such as arts and sports, aimed at development of the students’ interest toward the same. • Interactive sessions that encourage the students to speak out and bring out the extrovert in them. • Yearly excursions and camps, aimed at providing them positive experiences and opportunities.
