Overview
The Center for Research in Transplantation and Immunology (CRTI) is a multidisciplinary academic research unit (UMR 1064) affiliated to INSERM and Nantes University and located at Nantes University Hospital (CHU Nantes). We develop disease-oriented basic and translational research and training programs aiming primarily at: 1. Understanding the mechanisms by which the immune system promotes or control diseases or lesions in transplantation, autoimmune, inflammatory and infectious diseases; 2. Understanding the biology of stem cell, tissue and organism development; 3. Translating these advances from the laboratory to the clinic by bringing new diagnostic and immunotherapeutic developments as well as alternative strategies for tissue repair. The CRTI gathers 6 independent teams, in which 36 permanent multidisciplinary scientists and clinicians with complementary expertise in immunology, transplantation, autoimmunity, infectious diseases, nephrology, developmental biology, genetic and functional genomics will promote collaborative and translational research programs, education and clinical developments. The CRTI is also the research lab of Institute of Transplantation Urology and Nephrology (ITUN), one of the largest French and European kidney transplantation centers.
