Overview

Operated by TNTP, a national leader in advancing great teaching, Indianapolis Teaching Fellows (ITF) has trained more than 700 teachers for schools in Indianapolis. We equip talented individuals to be exceptional educators for deserving students in our city. Our fellows represent a wide range of backgrounds, educational experiences, and professional contexts. Many are career changers who bring years of skill and expertise to the classroom, while some are energetic recent college graduates. Others have been dedicated to service in local schools and are ready to take the next step to becoming fully licensed teachers. Regardless of where they have come from, each unique cohort member is connected because teaching is at the core of who they are as people. Our fellows deeply desire to see students thrive in lives of their choosing. Since 2007, TNTP has worked to improve academic outcomes for students across Indiana through various engagements with districts, charter schools, and the Indiana Department of Education—affecting the lives of thousands of Indiana students. We use our experience and knowledge of the local context to inform our recruitment and training approach for ITF, making sure that our program is responsive to the biggest teacher hiring challenges our schools are facing. With a full-time team on the ground in Indiana, our team is deeply committed to supporting students and their families.
