CEA has the power to eliminate the current negative effects of producing lettuce including the severe depletion and degradation of water and soil resources, the vulnerabilities to the supply chain posed by floods and droughts, the traceability shortcuts, the low salary levels, and the health threats posed to consumers by pesticide-based production and periodic E.coli episodes.
