Overview

The IGNITE innovation Hub, launched in December 2020, is a joint initiative between CARE Denmark and WFP RBN. By effectively collaborating we are at an advantage to tackle shared problems articulated by affected populations, to utilize funding more efficiently and to better influence core stakeholders. Key partners and generous donors include USAID Bureau for Humanitarian Affairs (BHA), Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, Milken Institute, Technical University of Denmark’s (DTU) Skylab FoodLab, Impact Hub Kigali, Outbox Uganda and UNDP. Together, we leverage our expertise in food security, climate change resilience and innovation and the power of our combined brands, to source, nurture and scale promising market-based innovations in the East African region. Our work spans across three key pillars: • Food Systems Innovation Ecosystem support: providing technical support and non-dilutive grant capital to locally-led innovators; supporting local youth change-makers to responsibility contribute towards food systems transformation • Collective Learning on Innovation: how can we harness our collective intelligence to ensure sustained impact of activities that contribute towards systems change • Innovation Culture Strengthening: understanding the barriers to innovation and creating the necessary mechanisms, rhythms, skills, and mindsets so that innovation flourishes This balance of fostering internal and external innovation whilst maintaining a north star of systems impact, means that the IGNITE Innovation Hub is uniquely positioned to catalyze positive change. Throughout our work we emphasize environmental sustainability, gender inclusion, youth empowerment and climate action so that our shared reimagined future is resilient.
