Health Volunteers Nigeria Initiative

Hospitals and Health Care

Overview

Health Volunteers Nigeria Initiative is a youth led non-profit promoting the SDG 3. Our vision is to operate a responsible, ethical, non-profit organisation that is capable of delivering comprehensive health services to people living in underserved communities, hard to reach areas and amongst persons with low income in Nigeria. Our Mission is to bridge health gaps through targeted community health programs involving Education, Advocacy and Outreaches. In the 2 years of our operation, we have directly provided Medical Services to 3,750 individuals (young and Old) across 11 communities (underserved and with low income earners inclusive) These services include diabetes and hypertension screening, Malaria and HIV tests, Hepatitis screening, free insecticide Treated Nets for pregnant women, free Medical consultation and free drug dispensary for basic ailments. Some of the persons get referrals to registered Medical Facilities for advanced care. These have been highly beneficial in breaking disease transmission chains, increasing diseases awareness, promoting healthy lifestyle changes and reduce maternal and child mortality. Our seminars and walk on Cardiovascular diseases have also gone a long way to increase awareness of these diseases and help more people to cultivate lifestyle changes for healthy living.
